Our weekly selection of hockey moves that leave us scratching our heads. We don't recommend that any of these feats be attempted at home. Submit your suggestions for Hoser of the Week directly to us at sharknews@yahoo.com.
For the Week of 12/5/05
Peter Forsberg - Philadelphis Flyers
Forsberg turned over a new leaf this season by electing not to re-sign with the Colorado Avalanche, and opting for the rugged confines of Philadelphia. Forsberg may have opted for a ding or two to the dome as well, after suggesting that Pittsburgh Penguins rookie phenom Sydney Crosby had taken a dive last week.

Floppa himself insinuating that a player on the ice is diving? That would be like us criticizing someone's writing style! Or better yet, that would like us acting as if we knew what we were talking about.

Flyers GM Bob Clarke added fuel to the fire with follow up comments, when asked about the diving some players might take in the game today.

"At one time, you never stayed down because you never wanted an opponent to know you were hurt," Clarke said. "Now, guys get hit in the lip and are rolling around the ice. I'm glad our team doesn't do that. I hate guys who go down easily, intentionally, and grab their face so they can get a five-minute penalty. That's so out of character for hockey players. I hope my team would never do that."

Keep hoping Bob. And dreaming.

Forsberg is to diving as, well, as Greg Louganis is to diving. Only Louganis took a three-meter spring board to the head, so he at least has an excuse. Forsberg would be better served to focus on the task at hand, which is something the Flyers haven't had much success at the past could of decades.

Better yet, Forsberg should fight to stay on his feet once in a while. He might actually take Philadelphia to the promise land. But hey, what do we know.
